WhatsApp is reportedly starting to roll out the ability for beta testers to pin multiple channels.

WhatsApp users will soon have the ability to touch and hold two channels to pin them at the top of their list.

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature that will allow users to pin channels for easier access, according to details leaked by a feature tracker. The ability to pin up to two channels at the top of the list was spotted in a beta version of WhatsApp for Android, though it may not yet be available to all beta testers. Currently, the stable version of the instant messaging platform does not offer the option to pin favorite channels at the top. However, it is suggested that this functionality could be included in a future WhatsApp for Android update.

Pin WhatsApp Channels

According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned instant messaging service is introducing the ability to pin up to two channels with WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.13.3. Once this functionality is enabled, users can touch and hold up to two channels in the list, then tap the pin icon from the top bar, as shown in a screenshot leaked by WABetaInfo.

The feature tracker speculates that this addition could enhance the navigation experience by ensuring frequently visited channels remain easily accessible. Similar to pinned conversations, these channels can be opened without needing to scroll through the entire list.

The feature to pin multiple WhatsApp channels is reportedly available to beta testers who install WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.13.3 through the Google Play Store beta program. While Gadgets 360 staff members were unable to test the feature on the latest beta release, it is believed to be rolling out to testers in phases.

The update is also anticipated to introduce the ability to select multiple WhatsApp channels for bulk actions, such as pinning, marking as read, or muting. This could be particularly useful for users who have subscribed to multiple channels, making it easier to manage them.

WhatstApp to Offer Better Privacy Control Over Status Updates

The feature tracker previously reported that WhatsApp for Android might be testing a new feature aimed at enhancing privacy control over status updates. This feature could allow users to quickly choose their audience before sharing status updates through a new status privacy confirmation window.

When sharing status updates, users may encounter two options: “All contacts” and “Specific contacts.” It is speculated that the feature may also provide the ability to exclude certain people from viewing the status updates.
