The Apple Watch Series 10 is set to introduce new watch faces, an enhanced ECG sensor, and improved water resistance, according to reports.

The Apple Watch Series 10, possibly named Watch X, might be introduced at the “It’s Glowtime” Apple event on September 9. Recent online leaks have revealed potential features and upgrades for the successor to the Apple Watch Series 9. According to a new report, the upcoming watch is expected to offer larger display sizes compared to the current 41mm and 45mm options. It is also anticipated to feature an updated heart rate sensor and enhanced water resistance.



Expected features of the Apple Watch Series 10

According to a report from 9to5Mac, the upcoming Apple Watch Series 10 is expected to feature an enhanced ECG or heart rate sensor, promising improved accuracy and potentially unlocking new functionalities. Previous leaks have hinted at the possibility of the watch supporting sleep apnea detection.

The report also suggests advancements in health data collection methods. For example, updated algorithms within the iPhone Health app could interpret data gathered by the heart rate sensor to aid in detecting atrial fibrillation, rather than processing this data directly on the watch.

The current Apple Watch Series 9 is water-resistant up to 50 meters but isn’t recommended for water sports or activities like scuba diving. In contrast, the Apple Watch Ultra offers water resistance up to 100 meters, suitable for high-speed water sports up to 40 meters deep. It’s reported that the upcoming Apple Watch Series 10 will be suitable for high-speed water sports up to 20 meters deep and may also support Apple’s exclusive Depth app, currently available only on the Watch Ultra.

Additionally, it’s rumored that the Apple Watch Series 10 will come in 44mm and 48mm size options, while the Series 9 is currently available in 41mm and 45mm sizes. With upgraded displays expected, these new models are likely to feature new watch faces as well.One anticipated watch face for the Apple Watch Series 10 is “Reflections,” designed to respond to ambient light conditions. Another expected addition is a new Hermès watch face named “Regatta,” inspired by the sailing competition of the same name. This face is rumored to feature direct access to a timer function.
