Snapdragon X Elite has appeared on Geekbench, outperforming Apple’s M3 chip in a multi-core test.
Benchmark leaks suggest that the new Surface Laptop 6 from Microsoft, powered by the Snapdragon X Elite chip, performs well. Scoring 2,714 points in single-core tests and 14,078 points in multi-core tests, the Surface Laptop 6 with Snapdragon X Elite might be a strong contender in the laptop market.

Qualcomm’s flagship computer chip, the Snapdragon X Elite, anticipated to debut in laptops from top brands this year, has surfaced in a benchmark test. An entry for what seems to be the Surface Laptop 6 on Geekbench hints that Microsoft’s upcoming laptop might outperform Apple’s MacBook Pro models equipped with the latest M3 chip in a particular CPU test. Recent reports suggest that Microsoft could unveil Surface laptops featuring Snapdragon X Elite chips at a hardware event in May.
The Geekbench listing, spotted by WCCFTech, doesn’t specify an official product name, labeling it as “OEMBR OEMBR Product Name MFG.” However, details reveal it’s powered by a Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 chipset running at 4.01GHz, boasting 12 cores. It’s worth noting that there are three variants of the Snapdragon X Elite, and the one tested wasn’t the most potent chip — the XIE-84-100 variant boasts a 4.20GHz boost clock speed.
In the purported Surface Laptop 6 equipped with a Snapdragon X Elite chip, the single-core score registers at 2,714 points, while the multi-core score reaches 14,078 points. This places the chip ahead of Apple’s 14-inch M3 MacBook Pro in Geekbench’s multi-core tests, where the M3 MacBook Pro achieved scores of 3,103 and 12,065 points, respectively.
If these benchmark tests are authentic, then Apple’s M3 chip is expected to be approximately 13.37 percent faster than the Snapdragon X Elite found in the rumored Surface Laptop 6. Conversely, Qualcomm’s chip demonstrates a performance advantage of 15.4 percent over the M3 MacBook Pro. This discrepancy in performance can be attributed to the Snapdragon processor’s higher core count of 12 compared to Apple’s M3 chip, which has 8 cores.
If these benchmark tests are indeed accurate, then it suggests that Apple’s M3 chip could potentially outpace the Snapdragon X Elite in the speculated Surface Laptop 6 by approximately 13.37 percent. Conversely, the Qualcomm chip exhibits a performance advantage of 15.4 percent over the M3 MacBook Pro. This disparity can be attributed to the fact that the Snapdragon processor boasts a higher core count of 12 compared to Apple’s M3 chip, which has 8 cores.

It’s prudent to approach these benchmarks cautiously since Microsoft hasn’t officially confirmed any intentions to release new Surface models featuring Snapdragon laptop chips. However, based on a recent report, Microsoft appears confident that both the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 have the potential to outperform Apple’s latest 3nm Apple Silicon processor. More details about these rumored devices are anticipated to emerge soon, as Microsoft is rumored to unveil new Surface laptops equipped with Snapdragon chips at its upcoming hardware event next month.
