Samsung is reportedly considering introducing a new method to check the time on Galaxy devices, even when the screen is turned off.
The feature is expected to debut alongside the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 at the Galaxy Unpacked event, rumored to be held in July.
Reportedly, Samsung is developing a new method for users to check the time on Galaxy devices, as suggested by a tipster on a social media platform. This feature will purportedly enable users to view the time even when the device’s screen is off, and it is said to be activated through a simple gesture. Speculation suggests that instead of being integrated into the device’s operating system, this feature might be available in the Good Lock app.

New way to check time on Galaxy phones
In a recent post, tipster Tarun Vats shared information about a rumored feature that Samsung is reportedly developing. This feature was discovered in the Regista module of the Good Lock app. Currently, the app allows Samsung users to customize their lock screens and the overall user interface of their devices.
According to the claims, an update for the RegiStar module is currently under development, which could allow users to check the time on their devices with a simple gesture: a double tap on the back, even when the screen is off. The tipster suggests that it might be called “Check Time with Back Tap”.
The feature is currently in development. There are speculations that it might debut with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, running on One UI 6.1.1, which are expected to launch at the Galaxy Unpacked event in July. However, it is anticipated that other devices may receive it later with One UI 7, possibly as part of Samsung’s Android 15 update.
One UI 6.1.1 update
Samsung is reportedly working on the One UI 6.1.1 update for its smartphones. Notably, significant camera enhancements are expected to be included in this update, particularly for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The Galaxy S24 Ultra, which was launched in January, has been experiencing issues related to shutter lag, motion blur, and poor zoom quality.

According to tipster Ice Universe, the update is expected to “feature a lot of camera improvements.” However, it is said to still be in its early development stages and will undergo extensive testing before being rolled out to the public.
