Reports suggest that the Sony Xperia 1 VI is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and a triple rear camera setup.

According to reports, Sony is said to be merging its camera applications into a single user-friendly app, taking inspiration from Sony’s Alpha series cameras.

Ahead of its expected launch on May 17, leaks have surfaced revealing the design and key specifications of the Sony Xperia 1 VI. The device is rumored to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and an OLED display with variable refresh rate. The camera setup is speculated to include a 16mm ultrawide sensor, and Sony is said to be consolidating its camera apps on this model.

According to a report by MSPoweruser, the leaked details showcase the Sony Xperia 1 VI in black and platinum silver colors, sporting a triple camera configuration on the rear along with frosted textured glass.

The Sony Xperia 1 VI is rumored to offer an upgraded OLED display that is 1.5 times brighter than its predecessor, the Xperia 1 V. The display is expected to feature a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, along with support for Sunlight vision mode and Bravia HDR remaster technology. Additionally, the device is said to be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, and Sony has reportedly enhanced heat diffusion and incorporated a vapour chamber to address overheating concerns.

The Sony Xperia 1 VI is rumored to feature a triple rear camera setup consisting of an ultra-wide-angle 16mm lens, a wide-angle 24mm lens (48mm with 2x optical zoom), and a telephoto zoom 85-170mm lens (with up to 7X zoom). The 24mm lens may come equipped with Sony’s “Exmor T for mobile” stacked CMOS image sensor. Sony is expected to replace its Photography Pro, Videography Pro, and Cinema Pro apps with a unified app inspired by its Alpha series cameras.

Reports suggest that the Sony Xperia 1 VI will come with a 5,000mAh battery supporting wireless and reverse wireless charging. The battery is anticipated to offer up to two days of usage on a single charge and have a lifespan of four years.

In terms of gaming, the Sony Xperia 1 V is rumored to feature a 240Hz touch sampling rate, adjustable white balance, low gamma raiser, and an FPS optimizer. It may also include a new high-performance audio chip supporting Hi-Res audio, Hi-Res Audio wireless, 360 Reality audio, LDAC, and DSEE Ultimate, along with a 3.5mm jack.

Customers purchasing the Sony Xperia 1 VI may receive one year of complimentary Sony Pictures movie streaming in specific areas. They could gain entry to as many as five Sony movie titles enhanced with IMAX video and DTS sound.
