Allegedly, the Apple Vision Pro 2 won’t be released until after 2026.

According to the report, Apple is presently engaged in efforts to introduce the Vision Pro to global markets.

According to a recent report, the Apple Vision Pro was released in February 2024 but is currently only available in the US. Apple intends to expand its availability to international markets. However, despite this expansion effort, there is no sign of its successor, the Apple Vision Pro 2, until the end of 2026, as per a new report. CEO Tim Cook mentioned that the mixed-reality headset will be launched in China in 2024.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman stated in his Power On newsletter that Apple’s roadmap for the Vision Pro for the next two years does not include the introduction of a new headset. This aligns with Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s earlier claims that the Vision Pro 2 won’t enter mass production until 2027. This suggests that Apple might not introduce another augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) focused product for up to three years.

However, Apple does have clear priorities for the Vision Pro. According to Gurman, the company’s main focus is on expanding the market reach of the existing headset. While China is confirmed as the next launch destination, other regions might see the introduction of the headset in 2025. Nevertheless, Apple seems cautious about sales projections, as it reportedly reduced its orders for the Apple Vision Pro from an estimated 700,000 to 800,000 units to 400,000 to 450,000 units.

Another item on the company’s agenda is to roll out an update for the current operating system of the mixed-reality headset. According to the report, Apple plans to launch the visionOS 2.0 update later this year. However, the update is not anticipated to bring about any groundbreaking changes to the device’s functionality. It will be intriguing nonetheless to observe any new features that the company incorporates. Interestingly, there are rumors suggesting that the Vision Pro will receive new AI capabilities with the operating system update.

Gurman asserts that the ultimate goal is to create a more affordable version of the headset. The company purportedly aims to release a budget-friendly iteration of the Vision Pro before considering a successor. However, there’s a hurdle to overcome. According to the report, Apple is facing difficulties in reducing the price and lacks a clear strategy to accomplish this objective.
