According to Mark Gurman, it’s anticipated that Apple will launch its new iPad Pro and iPad Air models in May.
It is rumored that the upcoming iPad Pro models will have slimmer bezels.
Apple is anticipated to update its iPad Pro and iPad Air lineup. Various leaks and reports regarding these tablets have surfaced online in recent months. The new iPad Pro and iPad Air are expected to feature larger displays and upgraded chipsets. While earlier leaks suggested an April launch for these iPad models, a new report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman indicates a delay.
According to Gurman, Apple is now likely to unveil the highly anticipated iPad Pro and iPad Air models in early May, approximately a month before the start of its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 10. Gurman mentions that Apple’s suppliers are currently ramping up production for these expected iPad models.
Previously, Gurman had speculated a launch by the end of March or in April. However, the delay is attributed to “software work for the devices” and the “complex new manufacturing techniques” associated with the new displays that the models are expected to feature.
The report suggests that Apple is preparing to introduce four new iPad Pro variants, codenamed J717, J718, J720, and J721. These models are anticipated to be equipped with Apple’s new M3 chipset and are rumored to support “redesigned versions of Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil.”
Additionally, Apple has reportedly been exploring the possibility of incorporating OLED screens in the upcoming iPad models. The iPad Air, currently available only in a 10.9-inch size, is expected to receive a boost with a larger 12.9-inch display. Furthermore, the next-generation iPad Air models are expected to feature M2 chipsets and may also include landscape-oriented front cameras.
On the other hand, a recent leak has indicated that the forthcoming iPad Pro models will feature slimmer bezels and will offer both “glossy and matte screen versions.” According to a tipster, the 11-inch variant is expected to have a 7.12mm bezel, while the 12.9-inch option will sport a 7.08mm bezel. These measurements represent a reduction of 10 and 15 percent, respectively, compared to their 2022 counterparts.
