Mark Gurman: Apple’s upcoming OLED iPad Pro and iPad Air are scheduled to be launched in early May.

It is probable that Apple’s latest iPad models will be offered at elevated price levels.

Apple’s upcoming iPad Air and iPad Pro models for 2024 have been the subject of numerous leaks and rumors, but there hasn’t been any concrete information regarding their launch until now. Fortunately, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has provided a more specific timeframe for their release. According to Gurman, they are expected to be launched in early May. Along with the new tablets, Apple may also introduce updated versions of the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil. The new iPad Pro is anticipated to feature an M3 chip and could offer MagSafe wireless charging as well as OLED displays. Additionally, there are reports suggesting that a new iPad Mini and a base iPad model are also in development and could possibly be launched by the end of 2024.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman stated that the refreshed iPad Pro and iPad Air are set to launch in the first week of May, approximately a month before the start of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 10. According to Gurman’s sources, the launch is likely to take place on May 6.

Gurman further mentioned that the Spring launch event will also introduce refreshed versions of the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil. He revealed that Apple’s retail stores are preparing to receive new product marketing materials later in the same week. The upcoming iPad models are expected to feature OLED displays and are likely to be priced at higher levels.

Additionally, Gurman suggests that Apple is in the process of developing updated iterations of the entry-level iPad and iPad mini. These base models might not hit the market until “at the earliest” by the end of the year. It’s speculated that the new smaller iPad could essentially be a more affordable version of the 10th generation model released in 2022, while the iPad mini update may primarily focus on a processor upgrade.

Speculations regarding refreshed versions of the iPad Air and iPad Pro have been circulating for months. The upcoming iPad Pro is expected to feature an M3 chip and incorporate MagSafe wireless charging, while the iPad Air may be powered by an M2 chip. Reports suggest that the new iPad Pro models will boast thinner bezels and come in both glossy and matte screen variants. The 11-inch version is rumored to sport a 7.12mm bezel, whereas the 12.9-inch variant could feature a 7.08mm bezel.
