Nothing has unveiled the Phone 2a Community Edition Project, enabling users to participate in designing a unique edition phone.
Recently, users of the Nothing Phone 2a have begun receiving the update to NothingOS 2.5.4.
Nothing recently hinted at an “industry-first” initiative. The company has now unveiled its strategy for a ‘Community Edition Project’, inviting individuals worldwide to submit their ideas for a new version of the recently introduced Nothing Phone 2a. This initiative is described as a collaboration between the “community” and the Nothing Team. Carl Pei, founder and CEO of Nothing, confirmed that this could mark the initial phase of involving the “community” in co-creating new products or even the operating system in the future. The Phone 2a was launched on March 5, with users now beginning to receive the Nothing OS 2.5.4 update.
Nothing CEO Carl Pei introduced the Nothing Phone 2a Community Edition Project, where the UK-based OEM is seeking design, wallpaper, and packaging concepts from the community – including Nothing product users and others. The invitation is inclusive and open to everyone. All individuals interested are urged to contribute their ideas for a new variant of the Phone 2a.
The company elaborates that the Community Edition Project will extend over a period of six months, divided into four stages. The hardware design submission is scheduled for March, with wallpaper design following in May, packaging design in June, and submission of marketing campaign ideas in July.

Nothing has verified that participants can present their ideas through any medium of their preference, including “images, video, and/or other supporting media that best illustrates” the idea. Submissions can be uploaded using the Community Edition Project webpage. After the submission period concludes for each stage, voting will commence on chosen ideas, open to all. Subsequently, all valid submissions will be evaluated by an “internal Nothing panel to determine the winner at each stage.”
The Nothing Phone 2a starts in India at Rs. 23,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant, while the 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB configurations are listed at Rs. 25,999 and Rs. 27,999, respectively. The phone is offered in Black and White colour options and is backed by a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC alongside a 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired fast charging support. It sports a 6.7-inch 120Hz full-HD+ AMOLED display, dual 50-megapixel rear cameras, and a 32-megapixel selfie camera.
